White is the color of the season, right? Whether it’s a complete shade of white, or a dash of white stain, the lightness of the wood visually expands a space and heightens its scale. White floors, white cabinets, white furnishings – however you choose to incorporate this timeless decorating staple into your home, you’re sure to hit the style nail right on the head. We’ve got an abundance of white stain options for your floors to make every season bright.

11 Shades of Gray

Whatever your style, Shannon & Waterman has the perfect shade for you.

No matter what your mind may be conjuring up with this heading, we want to make sure you know all the incredible options if you’re considering gray (or even if you’re not) on your hardwood floor. Gray floors have been a hot trend in decorating for several years and don’t look to decline anytime soon.

10 Legacy Finishes

Upgrade your home to one of these beautiful hardwood Legacy Finishes

The holidays are all about family and traditions, and we’ve got no shortage of that when it comes to our legacy collections. Each Legacy Collection finish is rooted in a century of Shannon Family expertise, wrapped up in a bundle of American-made expert craftsmanship to give you the beautiful, custom look that your home, and your family, deserves.

9 Satin Beauties

The options are endless. Click Here to find the perfect satin finish for you!

When considering finishes for your new floor, satin is just one of the several options we provide. A low-luster finish, a satin finish hides small scratches, imperfections, and daily wear and tear. Families with small children and pets may find this finish preferable. With less shine to maintain, satin looks newer longer than does a high-gloss finish.

8 Hues of Ceruse

Treat yourself this holiday season to some beautiful wide plank floors from Shannon & Waterman.

First developed in the 1500s in France, a cerused finish means “to treat (wood or a wooden object) with a white pigment to accentuate the grain.” A cerused finish highlights the contrast between the grain and the rest of the surface. Oak is the go-to choice for a cerused finish due to its characteristic open grain, however other hardwoods, like ash and hickory, also work well.

7 Custom Options

Let Shannon & Waterman turn your house into a home with custom wide plank hardwood floors.

No two floors that we create will ever be alike, simply because we custom-craft every floor to meet the specific needs and desires of each client. This includes offering custom options like matching trim, baseboards, and registers, custom patterns, and custom stair accessories.

6 Cutting Methods

The process of picking your perfect hardwood floors start with the choice of tree and the way it’s cut. Click Here to learn more about the 6 cutting methods.

The methods for cutting wood are determined by how the wood is intended to be used, style, and solidity of the wood. For hardwood flooring, there are several different cutting methods: plain sawn, rift and quarter sawn, and live sawn. With the live sawn category are three distinct styles: Euro cut, French cut, and finally, Center cut. Plain sawn (also known as flat sawn) is the most common method used today. To better understand each type of cut is to appreciate the unique characteristics that each produces and how it can impact the look and character of your floor.

5 No Stain Beauties

Embrace the beauty of natural wood with no stain with just the rick pick from Shannon & Waterman!

Let the natural beauty of your hardwood floor shine in all its splendor with a no-stain finish. Not all floors need to (or should) be darkened or colored, so when you’ve found the floor that makes your heart leap, a no stain option may be the right way to go.

4 Wood Species

The wood you choose is the first step of picking out your new hardwood floor! Which ‘wood’ you choose? Click Here to learn more.

Hardwood floors are a great investment with many benefits, but when selecting the right hardwood floor for your space, how do you know which species of wood to choose? Selecting the right wood species comes down to your personal preference, lifestyle, and location of the floors. At Shannon& Waterman, we offer a multitude of choices in White Oak, Ash, Hickory and Walnut to fit any home and your personal lifestyle.

3 Texturing Choices

Give your hardwood floors extra character by adding texture to it— Read more about how we create different textures.

An important part of your wood flooring aesthetic is texture — it helps create depth and captures the natural character and beauty of the wood. Add texture with brushing, hand-scraping or a combination of both. For a subtle touch consider hand-scraping just the plank edges to add a unique distinction between each plank. Or, choose not to add any texture and keep the wood smooth — the choice is yours.

2 Construction Choices

Choosing between engineered or solid hardwood when planning your floor doesn’t have to be difficult. The feel and look of solid vs. engineered hardwood is virtually the same. The decision on which one to buy is simply a question of cost, climatic factors, and other practical considerations.
