Hardwood floors can help sell your home faster and for more money
The National Wood Flooring Association states that 99 percent of the real estate agents participating in a recent survey revealed that houses with hardwood flooring are easier to sell, sell for more money, and sell faster. A study of homebuyer preferences by USA Today using data from the National Association of Realtors found that 54 percent of home buyers were willing to pay more for a home with hardwood flooring. Twenty five percent of buyers under the age of 35, and 28 percent of those between 35 and 54, considered hardwood floors "very important" when looking for a home. For people interested in entertaining and those with children, hardwood floors are desirable because they are easy to clean and last longer.

Hardwood Floors are Timeless
It isn’t a secret that hardwood floors last a long time (100 years or longer!), whereas carpet needs to be replaced roughly every seven to ten years. Although hardwood floors are more expensive, by the time you replace the carpet once, chances are you’ve spent at least as much as you would have on hardwood, plus the wood is still as perfect as the day you purchased it. This also doesn’t factor in the price increase when you buy the carpet seven to ten years later. Prices always vary!
According to the National Wood Flooring Association, hardwood floors “can adapt to many different decorating styles and can even be stained, distressed or hand-scraped to change the overall appearance without replacing the original material.” Do you recognize the saying, “everything old is new again?” Your wood floors may be old, but they can easily be updated to revamp your home. This will also help your home value by knowing your flooring will always be a popular item and never go out of style as it can always be adapted to fit new decorating styles.

Were you up all night with the sniffles or listening to someone else with the sniffles? With allergies and asthma becoming a common issue in many households, the number of home buyers requesting hardwood has increased. In addition to healthy living indoors, hardwood flooring also benefits healthy living outdoors. Hardwood that is sustainably grown and harvested is very eco-friendly.
